Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid drug which is approx 80-100 times more powerful than morphine and is 20-50 times more potent than Heroin. It is a central nervous system depressant and is very dangerous in very small doses.
It is commonly used legitimately in hospitals for chronic pain control, usually in a patch form, with each patch containing between 2.5 mg and 10 mg. It can also come in powder form or a form known as ‘popcorn’ fentanyl.
Fentanyl is commonly mixed with heroin however has been found to be mixed in other illicit drugs like cocaine.
